bags stolen from hotel

My parents are in Italy on a vacation. They are staying in a 5-star hotel but 2 days ago one of their bags went missing from the hotel room. They were trying to claim compensation from the hotel but the hotel has said they are not liable for the theft. Can they claim for this from travel insurance

First sue the hotel or at least shame it on social media, tripadvisor etc. File a police complaint so they will be forced to pay. But you can of course claim travel insurance for this

Its surprising a 5-star hotel wont pay for this. However they can claim insurance for baggage theft even if its from inside a hotel room

Theft of bags from the Hotel is not covered under Travel policy.Travel insurence covers  LOSS OF CHECKED BAGGAGE,LOSS OF BAGGAGE & PERSONAL DOCUMENT , BAGGAGE DELAY.
