 The policy will be renewable provided you pay the premium within 15 days (called as Grace Period) of expiry date. However, coverage would not be available for the period for which no premium is received by the insurance company. The policy will lapse if the premium is not paid within the grace period.

I recommend if your policy expired please pay by cash before 15 days from the date of expiry. Any insurance company has to give few grace period. But at the same time request you to avoid by paying through credit card or cheque this will lead you to 64vb violation (rarely) if your cheque got bounced due to various reasons.
So i request you to pay cash before 15 days if you not able to renew on time.
