I have a sum insured of five lakh rupees under my family floater plan of which I have claimed four lakh rupees towards my wife's treatment. Will I be able to cover subsequent medical needs?

The maximum you can claim till the policy year-end is 1 lakh more.

Yes, you can cover to the extent of the available sum insured.

Under the family floater policy, you along with your family member covered under the policy, can only claim up to the total sum insured. In your case, the amount which can be claimed subsequently will only be Rs. 1 lakh.
In case you are expecting further expenditure, you should consider purchasing a top up policy Top up policies are like a recharge, which would cover your expenses, in case the sum assured of your base policy has exhausted. Would suggest you check the Regain policy offered by HDFC ERGO.
