thalassaemia

My niece is a minor thalassaemia patient and needs blood transfusion. Can it be claimed under health cover?

Re: thalassaemia

Insurance providers do not include pre-existing medical conditions. Please check with your insurer

Re: thalassaemia

If your Policy does not mention that it is a pre-existing disease then you can claim it under health Insurance.

Re: thalassaemia

Yes, unless your policy specifically mentions it as pre-existing and has excluded it

Re: thalassaemia

As long as you have symptomatic thalassemia and your medical records show that you have an intermediate form of thalassemia or more severe, it is almost guaranteed that you will NOT PASS the underwriting/pre-screening process required for purchasing individual medical insurance plans and will therefore be declined. Most of the insurance companies do not cover genetic disorders. If a person has thalassemia before purchasing of policy, there are chances that policy may not be issued by insurance companies.
