Is it really required to carry a hard copy of the policy?  If traffic constable asks for the motor policy, can I show him the soft copy in my mobile?

It depends on the rules and regulation which are laid out by the state RTO.

According to a recent news article I have read, currently Telegana is the only state where traffic cops are allowed to accept the softcopies of your motor policy.
