claiming for small amounts

I don't think it will be wise to file a claim for such a small amount. The hassles involved will far increase the money that you will eventually get.

If you can afford it, don’t claim insurance, specially if you are almost at the end of the insurance year. Even one claim during the period will nullify your NCB
