Re: Emergency Assistance

Hi ,

Emergency assistance is an Road side assistance cover which is opted by insured person to avail emergency roadside services .

This cover does not affect the OD section of the policy as this cover needs to be purchased by paying extra premium for the same.

HDFCERGO only arranges for services however all the repair/replace cost will be borne by the insured person .

Re: Emergency Assistance

Hi Santosh,

  1. The insurance company does not levy extra charges for emergency assistance.

You will have to avail this benefit while buying the insurance. As its an add-on.

So when and where you will require this assistance, the company will provide you services.

For you will have to pay for your expenses. For example: In Fuel Delivery, you will receive the fuel, but you will be asked to pay the fuel expense. The company won't pay for the fuel.

2. Some of the coverages are :

“On-site” Minor Repairs of the Covered Vehicle:

In the event of immobilization of the covered vehicle due to mechanical or electrical breakdown and as long as the said fault can be repaired at the place of immobilization within a maximum time period of sixty minutes, ASSISTANCE will proceed with the on-site repair of the breakdown. Neither supply of parts or replacement elements, nor materials, in general, are included in this coverage. The areas and elements of such repairs shall be limited to the extent as agreed with the insurance company.

Duplicate Keys:

If keys of the covered vehicle are lost or misplaced, the company shall arrange to forward the duplicate set from his/her place of residence. This service is applicable within a radius of 50 km from the place of breakdown to customer’s residence. (or the distance as prescribed by the company)

Locked/ Lost Keys:

In case the keys of the covered vehicle are locked-in, ASSISTANCE will help the Client as much as possible to get keys out of the vehicle. Any breakage of glass or door beading, if required shall be with prior approval of the client and to their account. In case the keys are lost the company shall tow the vehicle to a nearest safe place. The client shall have to arrange for a duplicate set at their own cost and efforts. The company shall surely help, if possible, them to find an appropriate solution.

Battery Jump Start:

If the Covered Vehicle does not start due to the battery being discharged, ASSISTANCE will arrange to jump-start the battery. Neither the supply of parts or replacement elements nor materials, in general, are included in this service coverage.

Tire change:

If the Covered Vehicle has a punctured or burst tire, ASSISTANCE will take care of changing it with the spare tire carried in the Client’s vehicle. In a case where spare tire cannot be used, the company shall either tow the vehicle to nearest tire repair shop or accompany the Client to nearest tire repair shop and back to the vehicle. The Client shall have to pay directly to the tire repair shop.

Fuel delivery:

If the Covered Vehicle runs out of fuel the company can deliver up to 5 liters of fuel (petrol or diesel only). Cost of fuel shall be paid by the client on the spot. This service is applicable within a radius of 50 km from Place of Breakdown to nearest applicable vendor or cities under coverage network. Distance limit in this benefit is due to practical hazards of carrying fuel over long distances.

Emptying of the Fuel Tank:

If fuel tank of the Covered Vehicle is filled with the wrong fuel, ASSISTANCE will bear the cost of emptying it, using a technician approved by ASSISTANCE. In case this service is not feasible, the vehicle shall be towed to the nearest location.

Towing and Removal of the Covered Vehicle:

In the event that Covered Vehicle is immobilized due to the breakdown or accident and “On-site” repair is not possible, ASSISTANCE will arrange the towing of the Covered Vehicle to the nearest workshop or garage approved by the company.

In case the removal or extraction of the vehicle is needed, ASSISTANCE will arrange the service on the payable basis. These costs shall be payable on-spot by Client directly to the service provider.

 3. I know for HDFC ERGO, either you can call the toll-free no and dial '*', and your request is submitted. Or they have alternative no: 18002095775.

 4. Assistance to reach the breakdown location within 60 mins from activation of the service (within city limits),

But In case the breakdown location is outside city limits it will be calculated 60 mins + 2 mins per KM from activation of the service.

 5. This service is available all over India, you will just have to call the company and ask them to connect you to the nearest assistance provider.

Re: Emergency Assistance

My car was broke down last week at one of the secluded place. As I have taken "Emergency Assistance" with the insurance, I was calling the Toll Free Number: 1800 2700 700. It never connected. I was so much  disappointed. Luckily I got a number of local mechanic. I called him and he came and serviced the car. Could you please give an emergency contact number in Mumbai where we dial-in and we get the Emergency Assistance.  Earlier I was using Liberty Videocon Motor Insurance and witnessed similar incident. But the Emergency Assistance service there was brilliant. I am now waiting for 4 more months to get the current insurance period over, so that I can switch back to Liberty Videocon Insurance.

Re: Emergency Assistance

These numbers also not working now. The automated IVR asks to go to the website to register any claims. On the website there seems to be 2 option for emergency assistance. Only gives options to register a new claim.
