In Motor Vehicle insurance policies, mechanical or electrical breakdown of the vehicle or parts of the vehicle is not covered under the policy. What is the technical reason behind this exclusion?

SolutionGenerally, under the standard motor policy, mechanical or electrical breakdown is not covered, unless you can prove that the damage was caused by flood water for which your comprehensive policy will help you out.
So if your vehicle had been submerged in water, don't try to revive it by cranking it. That may cause some serious damage to your vehicle.
Insurance companies are known to reject such claims unless you have already got an addon engine protector cover. Most people don't opt for this rider unless they are living in flood prone locality.
