Newer covers in health insurance should be for following
1. Covid 19 - should also cover all incidental expenses including PPE kits.
2. Pre-existing life style diseases viz. Heart, Hypertension and diabetes by reducing the period from date of insurance to include them

One of major ailments not covered by most of the insurance policies is dental treatments. Only a few of the insurance companies provide it and that too only when the dental injury is caused by accident. I believe if HDFC ergo starts extending insurance covers for things like braces, many of the children suffering from teeth malalignment can be benefit from it.
