No, it is not permissible for an individual to have multiple policies for travel to the same destination.

Though process-wise there is nothing to stop you from buying multiple policies for the same trip, it ie legally not allowed. Nor is it beneficial, because you can make only one claim for one mishap.

 No. As insurance company pays out claim on indemnity basis, therefore having multiple policies for the same location is not useful. In the event the claim amount is higher than the sum insured, the individual can make a claim under other policy(ies).
