Re: What does a travel insurance cover?

An efficient Travel Insurance Policy will cover the following areas.

Medical emergencies: When you are in a foreign land, you are less likely to know any good health care centres. Also, the cost of treatments abroad is always going to be more than what it is in India. In countries such as USA and Canada, health care is very expensive and a hospitalisation incident can leave you bankrupt. In such cases, insurance policies come to your rescue. Your insurance provider will compensate all your medical expenses abroad.

Loss of baggage and personal belongings: In case you lose your baggage and other personal belongings during your trip, travel plan will compensate. And if you happen to lose important documents such as passport and visa, travel Insurance provider will arrange the duplicate documents for you.

Flight delay and cancellation: A little delay in flight schedule can jeopardise your entire trip. And most airlines do not provide any refund in such cases. These types of expenses are included in the travel insurance coverage.

Emergency evacuations: in extreme medical situations, evacuation to the home country is funded by the insurance company.

Re: What does a travel insurance cover?

Hey Mumpy,

Thanks for above information.

I tried to calculate the premium for my upcoming travel just to check how much does the travel insurance actually cost.

and it is not expensive at all.

I never bought Travel Insurance earlier but after knowing these coverages and the cost, I might buy now.
